Can the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Boston Celtics?

Yes. Now we know it's Boston, so we can focus on that. Obviously I'm a biased Laker fan, but from what I've seen they have what it takes against the big three. first the keys to the game:

-KG cannot be touched in passion and intensity, if Odom pulls a no show, or Gasol keeps playing like a school girl, they will get owned.

-yes boston took the two regular season games, but the last one was in January. Anyone who has paid attention to the season can see that this is a far superior Laker team to the one in January ( plus they won't be playing in short shorts)

-the celtics have been pushed to the brink nearly 3 times already. does that mean they're inconsistent? maybe, but they are in the finals, so it also means they know how to fight.

Now, why the lakers will win

-Boston has a stiffling defense. But so did the spurs. The spurs game plan was to keep the lakers from scoring 110 points a game, which they did...and still lost 4-1.

-I can't even keep count with the amount of times I have seen 1:30 left in the third in a celtics game, and they have less than 55 points. You need a lot more than that against a western conf. team

-the celtics have played some of the most lopsided sub-par teams during the regular season and post ( except detroit) if they had to deal with 4 games each this year with the 10 contenders in the west, they would not have the best record in the league. on the other hand, the nuggets were an offensive beast, the jazz played smooth team oriented basket ball, and the spurs are one of the most fundamentally sound, best defensive teams ever, yet couldn't stop the lakers rally twice from 20, and 17 points behind

-if you took the lakers bench and made them all starters on another team, they could possibly make the playoffs, no bench in the league can touch them

-and finally, Kobe. the best in the game, playing his best season, and one of the top 5 players of all time. Paul Pierce is great, but he maybe has one game where he can dump 25 on you in the second half. Kobe has seven.

It could go either way, but with a format schedual of 2-3-2, I say lakers in 6.

The Celtics' defense has been the best in the league and continues to stay consistent. the lakers' defense has improved dramatically since the playoffs started. It's going to come down to which team can penetrate better on the offensive side of the ball. And to this point, the Lakers have the edge. I say Lakers in 5.

And for everyone who likes to refer to the regular season records against eachother. That don't mean squat at this time of the year.

I think the better question is can the Celtics beat the Lakers?

No the Celtics' 2 wins this season do not really represent what might occur in this series. The Celts played a Gasol-less Lakers team in both games and just look one year back and you can see the Cavs getting swept by a Spurs team who lost their 2 regular season matchups with the Cavs.

Regular season means nothing.
UBER YES. The Celtics are still the only team who has only one 1 road game the Lakers are still the team with the most progression and the best bench players. With Boston's records of constant road game losses ensures that all the Lakers have to do is win ONE road game and they will be champions. GO LAKERS!!!!!
odom/gasol/fisher have to play well and on defense the lakers have to make rondo and perkins beat them ...but more than anything kobe has to get to the freethrow line i think the lakers can do all of this and win in 5
No, because the Celtics have K.G., Allen and Pierce. Who do the Lakers have other than Kobe?? The Celtics have a deeper starting 5 than the Lakers. I say Celtics in 6.
no! boston got that!!!!!
Of Course they can they will win in 4
yes
nope
